She was born in Niigata, where it has lots of snow in winter, in March, 1963.
She finished graduate school in Tokyo. She used to be a newspaper reporter.
She has been to many places in the world and done some explorations like the canoeing on the Amazon River, the Arctic journey with dogsledding, the parachuting onto the North Pole. She like to do something with her friends in nature.
She set up "ECO-CLUB" in 1992 and takes kids to the mountain in Japan sometimes.
She also visits Yap with young Japanese, from elementary school kids to university students, every summer and provides them to learn how to live with nature through the Yapese lifestyle.
