The average temperature in Woleai is about 27 yearly. It has the rainy season and the dry season. It is a coral island which is almost 0 meter above sea level. If the greenhouse effect progresses badly, the sea level would be higher and coral islands would be under the sea. A big wave would damage crops easily when it hits onto the island. The population is about 850. They speak Woleai language; "Thank you." is "Gasaq shig shig." They have taro, bread fruits, and fish as their main diet. The coconuts is also valuable food.

There is a variety of fish which live in coral sea. There are many kinds of insects and land crabs on the island, but there is no wild mammals. There are pigs, fowls, dogs and cats with people. Spain insisted that Woleai was its possession at first, then German did too. Until the World War Two ended, the Japanese army had occupied Woleai. Lots of people went to the Japanese school in Yap island and learnt Japanese during the days. After the war ended, the United States has governed the Yap States. It became independent from the United States in 1986.
